Freedom From the Law: Galatians 2
Thursday Sep 19, 2024
Thursday Sep 19, 2024
Let's jump in to Galatians chapter 2! Paul continues to defend and clarify the gospel! A faction of people have made their way into the Galatian churches who believe that circumcision is required for salvation.
Paul clarifies that it is through FAITH in CHRIST ALONE that causes a person to be saved. It is not by any "works of the law." Let us walk in the FREEDOM of this TRUTH as well. It is by our faith in Christ alone that we are saved and FREE TO LIVE for CHRIST!
Let us be intentional not to once again subject ourselves to a yoke of slavery - whether it be from the culture or our own high expectations for ourselves or our family!

Paul's Defense of the Gospel: Galatians 1
Wednesday Sep 11, 2024
Wednesday Sep 11, 2024
Paul writes to clarify and defend the "truth of the Gospel" in the face of a false gospel. Paul wrote to address a theological crisis facing the Galatian churches, which were comprised of Jewish and Gentile converts.
A faction of false teachers had come into the Galatian churches teaching that Christian converts should follow the Mosaic law, including circumcision, in order to be saved. Paul desired to confirm that we are made right with God - whether Jew or Gentile - by FAITH IN CHRIST ALONE - not the works of the law of Moses. Come and listen in as we glean from Paul together! #biblestudy #galatians #gospel #grittygospel

Galatians: The Gospel of FREEDOM
Thursday Sep 05, 2024
Thursday Sep 05, 2024
The gospel of Jesus is the gospel of FREEDOM. It sets us free from slavery.
Paul, the author of Galatians, spent years in the prison of legalism. He wrote Galatians to clarify the gospel. He wanted to make sure the new believers in Galatia did not grow up subject to the bondage of religion and miss the FREEDOM in Christ entirely!
Galatians was written to CLARIFY and DEFEND the "truth of the Gospel" in the face of a false gospel. We can learn so much from Paul as he reminds us that we are FREE and teaches us to walk in that FREEDOM.
In what ways have we put ourselves in chains? And let ourselves be burdened once again by a "yoke of slavery?" We may not even be consciously aware of all the ways we buy into expectations set by others or established by the culture and heavily burden ourselves - so that we spend our days stressed with unmanageable expectations. It does not have to be this way!
I've practically mastered putting myself back into bondage with my own high expectations for each day. But I'm learning a new way and finding refreshment in Paul's encouragement...

The Gritty Gospel with Christy Young | Things No One Talks About in Miscarriage
Thursday Aug 22, 2024
Thursday Aug 22, 2024
Andrea & I share about our own miscarriages with the hope that our stories will encourage you, and help you not to feel alone if you've experienced your own loss.
We tell our stories transparently - honestly processing the initial shock, uncertainty, mourning, and deep sadness; yet, God's faithfulness and goodness are woven throughout our experiences of loss.
Miscarriages happen far more often than we realize. Statistics show that 10-20% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. That’s 1 in every 5 couples.
Individuals walking through miscarriage and stillbirth need people to rally around them. The suffering is so unique and different, and it's oftentimes silent suffering.
When you experience the loss of a preborn child, you wrestle with so many questions. What happens now? How long does it take to pass the baby? How do you know when you’ve miscarried? Is it painful? Do you bury your miscarried child? Should I feel so sad, angry, depressed?
Listen in as we discuss the answers to these questions and more. And for those who have not personally experienced miscarriage, but desire to walk alongside those enduring it, we discuss how to care for and respond to individuals walking through miscarriage.
Finally, we share of God’s goodness in several of the beautiful lessons we’ve learned through our own miscarriages. We have forever been changed.

Thursday Aug 15, 2024
As homeschool moms, we manage a lot - meals, groceries, laundry, teaching our kids, evaluating curriculum, extracurriculars, loving our husbands, etc! Let's be real. IT IS A LOT. But don't let the stress of a new year cause you anxiety!
As the new school year begins, let's evaluate five areas to help us live simply, with less stress, greater intentionality and a renewed sense of purpose in Christ!
Let's discuss: how we can be better stewards of our time and money? Where can we say no to commitments and activities that add more stress than value to our lives? Let's establish our priorities and aim to live by them!

"God used this imperfect family to give me a glimmer of His perfect love." - Larry Young Jr.
This is a follow-up Q&A on Larry's adoptive story: "Finding Out I Was Adopted As A Baby" on YouTube @ https://youtu.be/V72aaIYpn2s.
Larry made the comment above as he reflected on his adoptive parents. While they had very little materially-speaking, they sacrificed and opened up their arms and their home to a baby who needed a home.
Listen in as I do a follow-up Q&A with Larry and he shares about how he found peace in his identify even after discovering he was adopted at 22.
Here are a few of the questions we raise and discuss:
Did he struggle with his identity after his friend (whom he later found out was his brother) told him he was adopted?
Did he wrestle with bitterness or anger toward his adoptive parents, bio mom or God?
How did he thrive in school when he struggled and his parents couldn't help him (his dad worked all the time and his mom never graduated from high school)?
Praying this is an encouragement to you!

My sister, Shaylen Dixon, and I discuss God's faithfulness amidst our Mom's terminal cancer diagnosis. Come LAUGH and CRY with us as PRAISE God's FAITHFULNESS!
Our Mom battled cancer for fourteen years. On every front, she aimed to bring God glory with her life as long as the Lord gave her life here on earth.
She was so feisty, and used to say: "I want the enemy to tremble as my feet hit the floor in the morning!" She desired to have such an intimate walk with Christ that the enemy would tremble when she was awake - knowing she would be at work to exalt the Lord!
She was creative, zany, so cute and full of life, and faithful to her Heavenly Father - persevering to the end. She was always looking for an opportunity to share the gospel or encourage someone in the chemo room.
Praying this encourages you!
