We can sometimes be led to believe that our value and identity is wrapped up in our careers. We may have subconsciously bought into the lie that if we have a lucrative or successful career, then we're more valuable in the culture and to our families. The culture can send the message that we, as women, are more capable, intellectual or valuable if we can hold down a full-time career and fulfill our role as mother. Let's have some real talk about the issue!

It is so easy to become distracted and preoccupied with our work, commitments, school and extracurricular activities that we lose sight of all that matters for eternity. David petitioned the Lord in Psalm 39 for wisdom to know the brevity and frailty of his life. He prays for an acute awareness that the number of his days is as nothing.
David was a warrior, leader, musician, poet and king and had every reason to boast in the flesh; however, he understood that his life, just like that of every man, is a mere "breath."
Imagine if every one of us desired to adopt a mindset like that of David, and petitioned the Lord to give us a real grasp of the brevity of our lives. Imagine how differently we would live if we knew how many days we had left.
What would you spend your time doing? What would be worthy of your time?
Let us be people who daily live with eternity in mind.
