Most Christian families never stop to define the “good life.” What does 'that' life look like? What would we do? Who would we serve? How would we spend our days?
Instead, we quietly absorb the world’s values of comfort, stability, and affluence and then build our homes and education around those goals.
In this episode of The Gritty Gospel Podcast, Christy and Heather challenge moms to examine the deeper motivations shaping their parenting decisions. Are we forming our children toward faithfulness and holiness or simply toward comfort with a thin layer of religious language added on top?
True discipleship requires a different vision of success, rooted in obedience and trust in God rather than cultural approval or personal ease.

Why "Better Than Public School" is a Terrible Goal
Tuesday Mar 17, 2026
Tuesday Mar 17, 2026
Homeschooling or Christian education isn’t automatically faithful just because it removes harmful influences. If we don’t intentionally shape our children toward truth, we simply replace one flawed goal with another.
In this episode of The Gritty Gospel Podcast, Christy and Heather challenge Christian moms to examine what they’re actually forming their children toward. Removing moral sewage does not automatically create biblical wisdom, godliness, or spiritual maturity.
Education always shapes loves, loyalties, and worldview. If Christ is not actively shaping the content of our children’s education, something else will.
This conversation invites us to move beyond reactionary parenting and toward intentional discipleship rooted in truth.

You're Already Discipling Your Kids (Whether You Realize It or Not)
Sunday Mar 15, 2026

Discipleship doesn’t happen in a classroom alone. It happens in daily conversations, ordinary routines, and faithful presence. In this episode of The Gritty Gospel Podcast, Heather and I explore what Scripture teaches about how children are formed spiritually through everyday life.
Drawing from Deuteronomy 6 and When You Rise Up by R.C. Sproul Jr., this conversation challenges Christian moms to embrace their God-given role as primary disciplers of their children.
Whether we act intentionally or passively, our children are always being shaped. There is no neutral ground. This episode offers clarity, courage, and encouragement for mothers who want to steward their influence faithfully and build homes rooted in the truth of God’s Word.

Is Comfort Quietly Killing Your Faith?
Tuesday Feb 10, 2026
Tuesday Feb 10, 2026
Are Christian families being shaped more by comfort than by Christ?
In this episode of The Gritty Gospel Podcast, we challenge Christian moms to examine how subtle worldliness has crept into our homes, our priorities, and even our discipleship.
Worldliness isn’t just scandalous sin. It often shows up as comfort, convenience, and the quiet pursuit of personal peace and affluence.
Drawing from Scripture and R.C. Sproul Jr.’s "When You Rise Up," this conversation calls us back to faith, sacrifice, and a kingdom-centered vision for motherhood and family life. Our children are not distractions from the mission. They are entrusted opportunities to build something eternal. If you’ve ever felt the tension between cultural comfort and biblical obedience, this episode will encourage you to walk forward in courage, clarity, and hope.

Disciple Them or the World Will
Tuesday Feb 10, 2026
Tuesday Feb 10, 2026
Our kids are always being discipled.
The only question is by whom.
God never assigned the primary responsibility for raising children in the faith to the state, the school system, or even the church. Scripture places that sacred calling squarely on the shoulders of parents. Pastors, youth ministries, and Christian schools can support and strengthen families — but they can never replace the daily, ordinary, faithful discipleship that happens at home.
In this episode of The Gritty Gospel, we talk about: • What Scripture actually says about who is responsible for discipleship • Why outsourcing spiritual formation is so tempting (and so dangerous) • How everyday moments shape your child’s worldview more than weekly programs • What faithful, imperfect, at-home discipleship really looks like
This is not about perfection. It’s about presence, obedience, and faithfulness to what God has clearly entrusted to us.
Parents, this is holy ground. And God has not left you without help — but He has made it clear whose hands the work belongs in.

A Biblical Worldview, One Conversation at a Time
Tuesday Feb 10, 2026
Tuesday Feb 10, 2026
In a world full of noise, opinions, and constant influence, our children are always learning how to see the world. The question isn’t if they’re being discipled — it’s by whom and by what.
In this episode of The Gritty Gospel, we talk about how a biblical worldview isn’t built in one big lecture or a perfect family devotion, but one faithful conversation at a time. At the kitchen table. In the car. In the middle of conflict. In moments when Scripture meets real life.
True discipleship is slow. It’s ordinary. And it is shaped by presence, patience, and parents who are willing to speak truth with love — and keep showing up day after day.
We’ll talk about: • Why everyday conversations matter more than we think • How ordinary faithfulness shapes eternal hearts • What it looks like to apply Scripture in real moments • Why presence is one of the greatest tools God gives parents
This isn’t about perfect parenting. It’s about faithful obedience. And trusting that God uses small, unseen moments to do deep, lasting work in our children. 🤍 Thanks for being here and walking this road of discipleship with us.

Homeschooling Isn't the Gospel | A Biblical Perspective on Education & Discipleship
Wednesday Jan 14, 2026
Wednesday Jan 14, 2026
Homeschooling can be a beautiful gift—but it was never meant to be a savior.
In this episode of The Gritty Gospel, Christy and Heather talk honestly about the danger of turning homeschooling into an idol. While homeschooling offers unique opportunities for discipleship, it cannot regenerate hearts or guarantee faithfulness in our children. Only Christ can do that.
This conversation is not about shaming parents or elevating one schooling choice over another. It’s about keeping the gospel central, loving the body of Christ well, and resisting the temptation to place eternal weight on educational models.
Whether you homeschool, send your kids to public school, private school, or somewhere in between, this episode is an invitation to humility, grace, and deeper trust in Jesus.
📖 Scriptures referenced include Deuteronomy 6, Psalm 127, Ezekiel 36, Romans 14, and Romans 1.
